up~and~up Thursday, Oct 19 2006

After a somewhat rough start to the week, I am seeing things on the up and up!  Tuesday morning I was pick-pocketed on the metro.  I would consider myself an intelligent person, and something like that does not happen to intelligent people!  So I thought..but those guys are good!  I didn’t even realize my wallet was gone until 3 hours later when I was home.  Somehow, within the 15 seconds that my bag was at my side and not to the front of me, a man reached his hand down into the bottom of my bag, grabbed my wallet, and disappeared!  So if something like this has happened to you, I can relate!  I love my credit/debit card, 50 Euro, my license and the most important thing…my Subway Club Card!  (yes they still have these in Italy!)  The good news is that everything has been canceled and cleared, so the only real loss was the cash!

After a month of getting to know each other we are starting to know how to mesh and gel as a team!  This has been a good learning process and though its been hard, I am hopeful of the end result and learning through the process!  I am also very encouraged by the ministry this week.  I ha my first successful student meeting.  Miranna and I hit it off right away and I had so much fun talking to her!  She isn’t a believer, but is so open to talking about spiritual things and I am really excited to continue meeting with her!  (You can be praying for her as well!)

So after a rough start, I am beginning to see how/why the Lord has placed me here and look forward to see how the rest of the year plays out!

I am a visual person and so I thought I would give you a little photo shoot of my new apartment. These pictures were taken right before our first weekly meeting; so it is all nice and clean for your viewing pleasure! As many of you know…we are in the process of finding a new home…but until that glorious day comes…we are here at via Corvisieri! I am truely grateful for a roof over my head and a bed to sleep in at night, but I am very excited to find another place due to the increasing number of semi-important things breaking! Some such things include our washing machine, a toilet, our oven, and hot water in the kitchen! We have been adjusting and eating lots of pasta since we lack any other sort of heating method!

(Living room, kitchen, dining room, bathroom (3), laundry room with broken toilet and washing machine!, and my room!)

However, I really can’t complain! Being the troopers that they are….the guys on are team had much worse living condition…including not enough beds, rooms, and dealing with bed bugs! I am very happy to report that they have found a new apartment and are enjoying clean sheets and a nice

place to stay! This is a picture of Christ standing in the “pedestal shower”…no curtain or glass door… you simply stand on a platform in the middle of the

room and shower as quickly as possible!
